Modified Mumbles October 2008
The division is looking healthy this season possibly due to the National Title being held in Albany next Easter. There is an influx of new cars and drivers as well as re shells such Steve Beres and Steve Panizza, both good steerers and seem to get best out of the XFs providing fierce competition for the fuel injected cars. Ken Tucker acquired a Falcon from Strathalbyn in South Australia. The car came with so many spare Ken had to take his truck to pick it up mainly to fit all the bits in. Tuck went to Mount Barker last Saturday for their first meeting of the season and after curing a fuel filter problem the Falcon put on a good show smoking up the back tyres in the straights and rounding up Steve Beres which is not an easy task. I am told the fuel filter is up in the spectator area some where(by air mail) Clinton Parker is well on the way with construction of his Falcon .Clint is looking forward to speedway as he will not have the fear of multi colored lights flashing behind him. Neville Bylund is building a commodore and rumor has it that all the good bits from the U.S. are going into the engine and it should turn out good horsepower. Neville is not a newcomer to the sport and should be up there at the pointy end of the business. Barry Hall has purchased the Theyer VS and as he no slouch in the old straight six Barry will no doubt enjoy the extra grunt. Theyers new car is still happening however with all the midnight oil that is going into it should be highly competitive and should hit the track very much sooner that we are lead to believe, maybe. After a massive engine failure in Kalgoorlie the Trewern car has had a complete engine rebuild. We are lead to believe that Dave to put a lien on the town hall to get the job underway(joking of course) Ayden is always entertaining to watch as the car has to be at 100 percent and he very rarely does anything to upset the car. Ayden always tips the car into the corner early .I believe he thinks the infield is softer than the fence however its always flat out and under control. Mat Kata will be there as usual backing up the ranks of the methanol munching XF s and we hope his suspension bit hang together this year as I am sure he prefer to forgo the prize and the re shell. Treveor Knox, haven’t heard much of him only that it is too cold in the shed to work on the car. Still water runs deep, watch out. The 87 car has an engine freshen up, driver needs it too but I think he is past it. Needs a person transplant. Hope you all enjoy night one see at the next one……..Bob |
