Bob’s Modified Mumbles, November 2008

Meeting 1 has passed us by with few incidents and some excellent close racing. Steve Beres cleaned up winning three heats by a healthy margin, however in the Trewern  camp there was much tinkering happening like silencers being swapped weight being taken of one corner and screwed into another and for those that were present on the night, would have seen all this high tech race track carry on pay off as in the final of the night the duel between  Ayden and Steve better racing you would not see anywhere, side by side lap after lap with out any paint being swapped. Ayden won the final by about a meter.

Jason Pearce had a night he would rather forget, Murphy s law reigned supreme, what could go wrong went wrong. Ken tucker had a similar night knocking off switches that were located in places foreign to him however I would imagine that this problem can be overcome with the assistance of a pair of side cutters some auto wire and a soldering iron.

Steve Panizza in the 99 car finished the night unscathed but no doubt will be doing some research in the handling department as the car had stacks of oomph but seemed lack direction.

The 87 car, the engine is out after one heat. Not the fault of the mechanic, so let’s get on and fix it. 87 will Be out for a while I would assume.

Next meeting the Metabo Modifieds are off to Geraldton for round one of the W.A.M.D.A series. Steve Beres Ken Tucker and Jason Pearce are  making the journey there for the event and all should go well on the Geraldton track that is smaller and not as tacky as home, however after some race night alterations I am sure they will soon become accustom to the conditions.

At home there may be a new car or two out for a test run if it fits in with the program. Clinton Parkers car is getting closer to race day and Barry Hall is still tinkering. Hope everyone enjoys the nights racing and we should hear some Southside Mechanical Services Magic Modified results from Geraldton with a bit of luck and a phone call or two…Regards Bob#87
