Charging Drivers Look for Home Track Advantage
Round Four of the Metabo Modified series is set to be a cracker with 3 locals out to claim the round win and series lead. Albany Drivers Steve Beres, Jason Pearce, Ayden Trewern and Ken tucker where in great form in last weeks state title in Esperance with qualifying Beres 2nd, Pearce 3rd, Trewern 4th and Tucker 6th for the 35 laps final. Beres had a flying start and led early but got caught up with Brendon Selleck in turn 4 which end Beres night, Trewern was also unlucky after make a error and spinning in front of 15 odds cars end he’s night as well. Pearce who finished 2nd and Tucker 4th both had a Great pace early but tyre choice let them down late in the race (Almost a One two Finish).
Beres, Pearce are 3rd on equal points going and Trewern is 5Th after a weekend at Margret River and Esperance Trewern racing like to forget. Local race meetings have proven well for Beres and Trewern dominating most races, but Pearce has opted for missing local meetings to concentrate on the series. Albany trio won’t have it easy with fellow Holden pair Mick Johnson and John Purser setting the bench for series with fast and consistent drives, let’s not forget Brendon Selleck who is out to chase points after missing round 1 in Geraldton and a disappoint result in Esperance.
Fraser brother Racing are itching to have a good hard shot in Albany Rob is just starting to get his Beautiful prepared BA falcon to flying and Peter car was a rocket in Esperance, so he be working overtime to get horse power to the ground. Fellow Ford drivers Kim Jolly and Paul Briggs have both joined the full series programme for the remainder series and both these guys are keen the get some good points on the board. This Years series is looking great with 20 plus contracted drivers from as far north as Broome and far south in Esperance.
Barry Hall and Sean Theyer will be set to rock, Halls building services Car is actually Theyer’s ex Vs which hasn’t done many miles, it has a brand new engine and will be quick if he can get the right set up. Theyer’s Brand New VZ is also coming along nicely, with the car painted and race parts slowly being bolted on. Both cars are Being sponsored by Mark O’Keeffe at Marshall Mowers Albany both have just expanded there business to a new warehouse, Mark has been a great support of modified sedans in Albany for the last few years. Theyer’s Automotive signage will also be on both cars as well as Peter Theyer has assisted in the up grade form the Vk into the Vs for Barry and has built the new VZ for Sean
The field its set to be the biggest field of Modified sedans in Albany for some time since the last national title a few years ago, with an large number of cars being debut for preparation for the rest of series. All drivers will get three heats to make the 20 lap final, with the final only having 20 car drivers will be trying there best not to miss out.
Cars Will be on display on the Saturday morning at Alison Hartman garden alone with the major series sponsor Metabo with there demonstration trailer and a sausage sizzle for all to enjoy.
