Pearce Wins Opposite Lock Sprint at Esperance Speedway

Jason Pearce has taken out round 4 of the GWN7 Metabo WA Modified Sedans Series held last night at Esperance Speedway in the south east of Western Australia. Pearce in his Protek Carpentry & Fencing Services Ford Falcon was unstoppable in the 20 lap feature race winning comfortably from John Purser & Graeme McSweeney.
A quality field entered for the fourth round of the series which doubled as the Opposite Lock Esperance Sprint with some frentic heat races contested over the course of the evening. The six heat races were won by six different drivers, with wins going the way off John Purser, Matt Kata, Graeme McSweeney, Steve Beres, Jason Pearce and veteran Bob Boyd which delighted the large crowd.
Pearce & McSweeney would start the feature race from the row with Pearce getting the initial jump into turn 1. The opening three laps would see Pearce, McSweeney and Kata race threewide at times battling for the lead with Kata unfortunately succumbing to a flat right front tyre early in the race. A restart would be called after five laps when Bob Boyd and Neville Mansted came together in turn 1. Pearce would then lead away from the restart and open up a handy lead over the field in the latter stages of the race with Beres & Purser getting past McSweeney before the completion of the event. Beres would end up officially finishing in fourth place after getting relegated two positions for passing McSweeney on the infield.
Pearce was a very happy man in victory lane " Its great win in this new car, we have put alot of time and effort into this car in the off season and for us to be leading the series at the halfway mark its great reward for the team" Pearce has now extended his points lead in the GWN7 Metabo WA Modified Sedan Series with Round 5 of the series to be contested at Mt Barker Speedway on January 28th which will be a Daylight race meeting.
