Round 5 This Saturday Afternoon at Mt Barker Speedway

Round 5 of the 2011/2012 GWN7 Metabo WA Modified Sedans Series hits the Les Gorman Park Speedway in Mt Barker this Saturday afternoon with the running of the Plantagenet Plumbing & Gas, Plantagenet Sheds & Steel Daylight Dash. A quality field has entered for the only daytime race meeting of the series with current points leader Jason Pearce looking to continue his recent strong form after winning the last round in Esperance on January 14th. Albany's Calon Ball and veteran John Purser in his WA Country Builders Holden Monaro are both within striking distance of the lead of the points with the series set to enter its busiest time of the season with the remaining four rounds to be contested in the next six weeks.
Returning to the series at Mt Barker is current state champion Mick Johnson from Broome who will be joined at this round by fellow Broome driver Lyle Sibosado who will make his debut in the ex Paul Briggs Ford Falcon. Albany drivers Graeme McSweeney and Steve Beres who both showed strong form in Esperance will be hard to beat this weekend as both they have done plenty of laps at Mt Barker in recent times. Peter Fraser who won the second round of the series at Geraldton back in November will return at the daylight dash along with three time series champion Aydan Trewern.
The Plantagenet Plumbing & Gas, Plantagenet Sheds & Steel Daylight Dash could be a real make or break race meeting with the predicted hot weather conditions likely to push the teams, cars & drivers to the limit of exhaustion. Racing will commence at 1pm this Saturday afternoon with drivers contesting three heat races followed by the hugely popular top six shootout and the 20 Lap Feature Race to the decide the round winner. Support divisions will include Junior Sedans, Street Stocks, Production Sedans and local Super Sedans.
