Theyer Wins Metabo Muster at the Perth Motorplex

Albany's Sean Theyer was a runaway winner in last night's Metabo Muster at the Perth Motorplex which doubled as Round 3 of the GWN7 Metabo WA Modified Sedan Series. Theyer aboard his Ryde Plumbing/Halls Haulage Holden Commodore was unstoppable in the 12 Lap Feature Race winning by a big margin from current state champion Mick Johnson with Calon Ball home in third.
A quality field fronted for the GWN7 Metabo WA Modified Sedan Series only race meeting for the season at the Perth Motorplex with veteran John Purser and series points leader Jason Pearce winning the nights two heat races. Pearce however would unfortunately be a non starter for the feature race with gearbox and engine related issues ending his night early.
Laurie Dowsett in his A1 Sandblasting Ford Falcon would share the front row of the feature race with Peter Fraser who was having a very consistent at his local round of the series. Eventual round winner Sean Theyer would share the second row with the WA Country Builders Holden Monaro of John Purser. When the race got underway Dowsett would get the better of the start before fellow Albany driver Sean Theyer quickly caught and passed Dowsett for the lead after a handful of laps. Dowsett while comfortably running in second place would succumb to a flat tyre with 3 laps remaining with Peter Fraser also striking misfortune in the final laps with mechanical issues while in a podium position.
Theyer was never challenged in the latter stages of the feature race winning from Broome's Mick Johnson, Calon Ball, John Purser with Rob Fraser rounding out the top five. Theyer was a very happy man after his win "Yeah it feels great to win here at the Perth Motorplex as we've hardly managed to do a lap the times we have raced here before, I really have to thank my family and all my sponsors for helping me get here and it feels great to win after a terrible season last year".
The Metabo Muster was a fantastic advertisement for Modified Sedan racing with track conditions at the Perth Motorplex allowing competitors to put on some great two and three wide racing for the crowd. The GWN7 Metabo WA Modified Sedan Series will now take a break over the Christmas/New year period before the series gets back underway with the running of the Opposite Lock Sprint at the recently revamped Esperance Speedway on January 14th 2012.
